If you post to AO3...
Apr. 14th, 2015 08:29 amApparently, there's a site called ebooks tree offering fanfics for download. Without the owner's permission, I may add. So if you've ever posted any of your fics to AO3 and having them available elsewhere without your permissiong, please go now and read this post by
megyal.
She explains in detail how to find your work and what to do if you do.
I've just sent them a takedown notice for some of my DBSK and Avengers fanfics.
I used to write fanfic purely for relaxation. More recently, I've realised that it's a great, fun way to help me test new ideas for my original work, too....I don't want to stop doing that. But it means that I'll have to take more care over where I post. So, I will remove some of my stories from AO3 and I may have to friend-lock some of them here.
I'm not sure yet.
First of all, though, it's important to force ebooks tree to stop offering our work. Could you please help spread the word to anyone you know who posts to AO3, so they can check this site?
Thank you!
