kitkat selection box.jpgThis morning's pre-work chores include making kimchi and watching the solar eclipse.

I didn't think we'd get to see anything over this way since it's so cloudy, but the sun's peeking through just in time. Actually, the cloud cover helps, as it smothers some of the brightness. No chance of taking any useful photos, though...  not with my level of photography skill.

As for the kimchi, nothing is allowed to smother the heat and brightness in that... or I'll know the reason why! I've become seriously addicted to Korean food over the last year, and I'm making bulgogi for dinner. And kimchi fried rice. And probably pancakes. And some sesame greens.

Just so I have a reason to open my orginal Japanese import box of weirdly flavoured kitkats for afters, of course!
See....I'm most carefully preparing for our holidays!

tumblr_mdmikyZycf1qg4xzoo1_500This is what happens at the end of a week where I've barely had time to draw breath.

I have some extra wine, write a bit, edit a bit and then decide I need some visual stimulation and wander over to tumblr.  Where...

...I end up with ice cream?

Not really my thing. The ice cream, that is. But we are grateful for small glimpses of dishy brunet. Just enough for my tired brain to handle.

Now, I really need someone to construct a matching Kensei ice cream. Something dark and chocolate. Or morello cherry methinks.

I know I should finish a set of articles about weddings, WITHOUT going all Kensei about my car, but... I'm spending a few moments hanging out on Tumblr feeding the Bleach addiction. And quite by chance I come across food porn. Wonder how that happened?

Now, what would you rather do for lunch?

Content, happy, peaceful and well-fed, writing in front of the fire with a nice glass to hand and carols in the background. I'm more of a Christmas Eve person, so for me, this is family time.  Dinner was worth the time spent on it - I even managed to keep the pineapple from turning purple. Result! - and while there's a cat missing from the tableau this year, I can remember him now a bit more easily.

Tomorrow it's motorways and in-laws and too much food and noise and almost alien after-dinner games.  But tonight, it's just us with lights and music.  So, while I'm in this peaceful mood, I'd like to wish you all a very Happy Christmas!

Writing about food makes me hungry.  Cooking, on the other hand, just makes me happy. So, shouldn't I be doing this all the time?
Logic would suggest I do. Instead, I spent the morning writing about food - part fiction, part not - before I gave myself a treat and started on tomorrow night's Christmas dinner, ably assisted by a bottle of Pinot Noir and wishing Kensei was around to help.
Now the house smells lovely, I have concocted a red wine gravy that is to die for (and which I need to lock away so there's any left for tomorrow), red cabbage is simmering away and there's a large bowl of onion, mushroom and celery stuffing for the Wellington on the counter that I can't stop digging a spoon into every now and then. I've remembered to take stuff out of the freezer... and I'm feeling on top of the world, even though the next chore on the list is ironing.

Most of all, though, I've suddenly hit upon an advantage of writing m/m romance... I can blissfully drool over / crush on / be in love with BOTH my lead characters. What joy! (and that's not the red talking.)
