In keeping with my current Japanese cooking jag, I today got my first order of ingredients from the Japancentre in London.  You know, the hard to find stuff: mochi flour, bulldog sauce, shirataki, tofu pockets... that sort of thing.  Including some pork ramen soup base, as I want to see what the real stuff tastes like.  I've only been cooking from recipes so far and have nothing to compare my results to.

So far, so interesting... I just got a little confused when I was instructed to serve my ramen with sliced cooked meat or NARUTO FISHCAKES???
Could someone enlighten me here?  According to Google translate  'naruto' has no meaning beyond the Uzumaki.  So am I to assume that someone got bored with the fox?
