RIP Lewis Collins
Nov. 28th, 2013 07:22 pmHubby just alerted me to the fact that Professional's star Lewis Collins has died.
I first came across him way before fandoms and the internet - and had a major crush on the character he played. Growing up in East Germany, and watching the series on "western" TV... was a treat, in a way, as TV here and TV there were two such very different beasts.
I never shipped the two leads until I was much older, but their bromance kept me sane through a winter in Moscow (I still have the story) and helped me survive one of the scariest nights of my life. And even now, too many years later I remember mercenaries, snark, politics and Bodie going all protective hanging off a building. I remember motorcycle gangs and death wishes and a man who was told he was of no use if he couldn't hold a gun. Most of all, I remember stubborness and a smirk to die for.
I never watched the remake and I never will - the original was / is in a class of its own. Even if of the three, only one now remains.
RiP Lewis Collins.
